Bear Creek Archeology is a rural Iowa-based firm. Originally the Highland Cultural Research Center (HCRC), BCA was established to promptly and efficiently meet the growing needs of our expanding clientele. HCRC, a partnership established in 1983 by David and Lori Stanley, specialized in prehistoric and historic archeological research, and successfully completed 156 archeological investigations. These included grant-funded research as well as those associated with the construction and maintenance of roads, bridges, parks, wastewater treatment facilities, landfills, lakes, levees, and other federal, state, county, and municipal projects.

Bear Creek Archeology is structured to efficiently manage several long-term projects while simultaneously conducting numerous small projects. As a small company, our employees are experts at a variety of functions and phases of various types of projects, and are able to function in different capacities as your schedule requires. All of our employees are able to shift between projects very efficiently. We are sensitive to the needs of our clients, and in the past have provided services with as little as 24 hours notice to proceed. We are accustomed to working under tight deadlines and closely monitor project progress so that all those involved with a project (Principal Investigators and support staff alike) are aware of their time constraints and consistently complete projects on time and at or under budget.
